October Reset: a little love for memories
Oktober 29, 2025
The light shifted last week and I suddenly wanted the house to feel calmer and cosier. So I did a tiny October reset. Not the whole house, just the things with feelings attached: cards, invitations, old tickets, a handful of photos. It was enough to change the mood.
What I actually did (in under 90 minutes)
- Wrote one line: “By tonight I want our home to feel calm and cosy.”
- Picked one mini-pile: old birthday cards. I asked, “Will the future me need this to spark joy?” A few stayed. Most went, with thanks.
- Clean as I re-shelved: quick wipe of frames/shelf while putting the keepers back. (One spritz of Ecoclean Homeline, a soft cloth, done.)
- One cosy tweak: swapped a photo in the hallway. It makes me smile every time I pass and proud of my mini-milestone of tidying up down memory lane.
What helped me decide
- If I’d hide it from guests, I probably don’t need it.
- One photo, card, reminder of an object is often enough.
- Keep the few things I’ll see (frame, shallow box, slim album), not a deep drawer of “someday.”
Try my tiny checklist
- One sentence for how you want to feel
- One sentimental mini-category (not the whole attic)
- Quick wipe as you put things back
- Place one memory where you’ll see it daily
Want my tiny checklist? Go for it: take it, print it, use it. It’s my pleasure. And if have been playing with the idea to thoroughly tidy up and declutter your home, contact me here: I would love to help you.
