Before you disinfect, do this

Was Du vor dem Desinfizieren tun solltest

At a young age, we learn that we shall not steal; we shall not lie; we shall not murder. This is so logical, and most children know instinctively that these activities, amongst others, are not the right choice.

Now we are told not to hug, to keep a distance, to stay at home, and not to socialise.

Yes, I know this is in our best interest and to keep the Coronavirus from spreading.

But what a difference, don't you think? The very things that we need in order to feel good and stay sane are not recommended.

Let's hope it is soon over.

In my last blog – Are you tired of Social distancing?I gave a vital tip on how we can hinder the next virus or bacteria from spreading. It is so cool that there are things we can actually do ourselves in order to help. We can take matters into our own hands and take responsibility for protecting our world.

But there is another way we can help to fight the spread of this virus right now, by regularly cleaning and disinfecting our living spaces! So with that in mind, here are five handy cleaning tips which are always helpful, but especially in virus-times like this.

  1. Wash your hands

Wash your hands many times throughout the day. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. A few more specific times to wash your hands are:

  • First thing when coming home.
  • After blowing your nose, or coughing or sneezing.
  • After using the toilet.
  • Before preparing food or eating.

  1. Take your shoes off before you enter your house

Try to make this a habit as well. We have no idéa what we step into when we walk around, and whatever it is, let's don't bring it with us inside.

Get some cute indoor shoes instead.

  1. Understand cleaning versus disinfecting and why we need both

Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces. It does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infections.

Disinfecting refers to killing germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs. But by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.

In other words, cleaning before disinfection is much more effective in achieving the goal of having a germ-free home. And this step is a must if the surface is heavily soiled or greasy.

  1. Remember the forgotten areas when cleaning and disinfecting

Don’t neglect to add these items and places to your cleaning list: tables, the backs of the chairs, doorknobs, light switches, phones, tablets, touch screens, remote controls, keyboards, handles, desks, toilet and kitchen handles and so on.

Often we don't think about these places when we clean, but if you get into the habit of cleaning and disinfecting these areas, it will help you in keeping the germs out as well.

You will probably come up with some more common places when you start thinking about your own living space.

  1. Use Ecoclean all-purpose cleaner and our new disinfectant

I'm all for simplicity when possible. Why make things extra tricky or time-consuming if they don't need to be? Like with cleaning.

Ecoclean won't do the cleaning for you, but it will make it so much easier. No need to carry around ten different bottles. One is enough. You can use Ecoclean for almost all the cleaning you need to do. From your kitchen to your tablet.

Grab yourself a bidon of our all-purpose cleaner Ecoclean here in the Shop.

The disinfectant you'll find here. (For now just on our B2B Website)

So there you go! It’s always a good idea to keep our homes clean, but now it’s more important than ever. So let's kick this virus goodbye! Bye-bye Corona! And we don’t want to see you again or any of your cousins, ok!?
